FAQ
Still got questions?
What is professional coaching?
Coaching is a partnership between the coach and individual through a creative process of enquiry that helps individual to maximise their potential. The coach's responsibility is to:
- Discover, clarify, and align with what the individual wants to achieve
- Encourage self-discovery
- Elicit solutions and strategies
- Hold the individual responsible and accountable
This process helps people dramatically improve their outlook on work and life, while improving their leadership skills and unlocking their potential.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
To determine whether you or your company could benefit from coaching, start by identifying what you would expect to achieve in coaching. When you have a clear idea of your desired outcome, working with a coach can be a great tool for developing a strategy for how to achieve that outcome with greater ease.
Do you value collaboration, other people’s viewpoints, and new perspectives? aAre you ready to devote time and the energy to making real changes? If the answer is yes, then coaching may be a beneficial way to grow and develop.
Why do people choose to work with a coach?
An individual or team might choose to work with a coach for many reasons, including but not limited to the following:
- Something urgent, compelling or exciting is at stake (a challenge, stretch goal or opportunity)
- A gap exists in knowledge, skills, confidence or resources
- A desire to accelerate results
- A lack of clarity with choices to be made
- Success has started to become problematic
- Work and life are out of balance, creating unwanted consequences
- Core strengths need to be identified, along with how best to leverage them
What will my coach ask me to do?
All coaching begin with intention. You can expect to:
Focus on yourself for a change, to answer the tough questions
- Observe the behaviours and communications of yourself and others.
- Listen to your intuition, assumptions, judgments
- Challenge your existing attitudes, beliefs and behaviours and develop new ones that serve your goals
- Understand and leverage your personal strengths to overcome limitations
- Take decisive actions, however uncomfortable
- Show compassion for yourself while learning new behaviours and experiencing setbacks,
- Have the courage to challenge yourself to reach for more than you would have ever thought possible.
How is success measured?
Measurement includes both external indicators of performance and internal indicators of success.
Examples of external measures include:
- achievement of coaching goals established at the outset of the coaching relationship
- increased income/revenue
- obtaining a promotion
- performance feedback
- personal and/or business performance data (e.g., productivity, efficiency measures).
Examples of internal measures include:
- self assessments
- changes in self-awareness a
- shifts in thinking that create more effective actions,
- shifts in emotional state.
